For my last semester in the School of Journalism we have to work on a semester-long project. It's covering an ethnic media or an ethnic group's contributions or person that stands out.
I don't know what to do my project in.
Well I have somewhat of an idea but I'm not sure what kind of inspiring, individualistic and captivating story I can produce. I want to do it on Filipino-Americans but I'm not sure on what specifically.
I was thinking about covering those who immigrated during the Marcos regime or those that came with the 3rd wave of Filipino migration. It's just finding the sources to make this possible.
As a Filipino-America, I'm so detached from the Filipino community. Not just here but back in California as well. I don't know very much about my ethnicity nor do I speak the language. It's hard to want to cover your ethnicity and to do it well. I feel like I have a responsibility to do this project well and very thorough.
I'm just going to talk to some of the professors here. Hopefully something will come of it. Some kind of story that needs covering or hasn't been covered in a while.
